In 2019, I built a bamboo gravel bike for eco adventuring!
Then life and COVID19 happened, so big adventures are currently on pause but microadventures, local exploring and, most importantly, learning about cycling as an adult is now happening. I've always wondered why road cyclists always look like they've just popped by on a detour from the Tour de France. Slick lycra (always colour co-ordinated) and obnoxiously cool sunglasses.
Stop the press. I have worked out why my beautiful new bamboo bike was clunking every time I turned the pedals.
It's taken far too long for me to take my bamboo bike out for a proper ride. Work, helping my family and hideous weather are just some of the reasons why.
Back in August 2019, I wrote a blog post on my plan to build a bamboo bike. At the time, the workshop with the Bamboo Bicycle Club was fast approaching and I had a zero-waste bike ride in the works, too.
Earlier this year, I made a decision – I am going to build a bamboo bike. I always loved the freedom of being on a bike.
